You can't criticise the wingbacks, it doesn't work because, our back 3 are far too slow, if Wild doesn't either get at least 2 mobile centre backs ,or change the system, we'll never go up because we look disjointed!, yes we got away with it for half a season then team's wised up and sussed us out I.e. press high and then we couldn't get out of our half, which then isolated our forwards, then if we went behind we then put subs on in total desperation and lost our shape completely!

Our back 3 wouldn't look too slow if they were playing against our strikers! Even though we've conceded far too many goals lately we still have conceded 9 goals less than any of the 4 teams in the playoffs. However we have scored 7 goals less than the lowest scorer of the 4 which is Crewe. The main reason we have not made the playoffs is our attack and that is primarily because of a chronic lack of pace. None of Stockton, Telford and Proctor ever put defenders under pressure nor ever have a chance of getting to the ball before their markers. Acquah while certainly not rapid is at least quick enough to cause his marker some discomfort.

It's our lack of attacking prowess that has being our Achilles Heel for the duration of this campaign - which is firmly underlined in the Div 2 table. Some of the teams in the bottom half have scored more goals than us.

This is the main issue. We didn’t score enough goals and not one player in our side reached double figures. Kian Spence scored 9 from midfield which is a great return, But not one player in the league’s top 30 goal scorer’s. I think it’s obvious where the summer focus needs to be and it’s not all about searching for a player who’s going to get us 20 goals. Look at Dom Telford- came here with a good goal scoring record but he’s struggled for goals here. Is it the way we play?…We have to work on creating clear cut chances for our strikers.

We have the core of a good squad and I hope we can keep them here. I don’t think much needs to change defensively and I would be more than happy to go into next season with this established back line. It’s not the problem area- it’s creating clear cut chances for our strikers is an issue for Wild to address.

A disappointing end to the season only picking up 2 points in the last 7 games but going one better is something to aim for next season.

We play with 2 forwards because of our slow back 3 , our wingbacks have to pick and choose when to go forward because we`re scared of counter attacks when we play it`s safety first keep it tight then hopefully score first if not the plan goes out of the window and we make changes and totally lose our shape !, you can`t have it both ways ! so you keep the backline that you favour and we`ll end up with the same problem , if you want more chances then the formation has to change . because we always have to keep a defensive midfielder back to cover , yesterday we actually HAD to change it , Wild had to push the wingbacks up whatever because we needed a result !
Wild`s system works early in the season due to our midfield having energy and are fresh it`s no coincidence that as the season wore on we eventually ran out of steam

So that takes us to the other end of the pitch. We scored less goals than any other team that ended in the top 7 and many below us scored more. Not creating enough good goal scoring opportunities has been our downfall this season and the reason why none of our strikers got into double figures.

The problem for me was that we never adequately replaced Patrick Brough. A proper athlete who could get up and down as a wing back and was strong in defence. The wing backs we have used have been adequate at best. Newby great going forward defensively not strong enough. Stephenson has done ok but he was signed as a midfielder and lacks the ability to go forward. Whitfield has played there but the lads an out and out winger and defensively he gives nothing. Worral has been disappointing and Warren I would be surprised if he is offered terms for next season. A shame Tiensa got injured so early in the season he showed promise but has obviously struggled to push on after coming back from injury.
If Wild is to persist with this formation next season we need to sign two proven and quality wing backs. A mobile centre half is needed to. Canavan is already signed up and out of Chester and Ray I would offer a deal to Ray and let Chester go and replace him.

The B team shambles (games on/off/on etc)meant that Tiensa and Mazeed have not had the game time to get up to match fitness after their long-term injuries. With a summer break and a good pre-season they could well be as good as two new signings come August. Its the right flank that is the problem area.

I think what Pete and his staff, not to mention Iain Wood, have brought to the club is a team of people who know how to get the most out of a budget, spot good players and good people and be able to sell the vision of the club to players we probably could only dream of getting a few short years ago. The last two season have been worlds apart from anything we’ve had before. Everyone wanted us to be an established league 2 side and after a couple of horrible seasons we finally have that. Missing out on the playoffs by one point, one GOAL, across a whole season is hugely disappointing from the position we were in just before Easter but I have every confidence that the team behind the scenes will continue to work the magic in creating a team and a squad we can be proud to watch every week and who knows, go one step further next time.

Do I wish Pete was a bit more like Evatt? Yes I do. But after all is said and done, two top ten finishes in league two is a dream come true. I don’t go back as far as some, but when your away days used to be Winsford and Frickley and now they are Bradford City and Tranmere I can say without any doubt that Wild and co are doing a great job and I look forward to year three of this adventure. Hopefully with a bit more Barrovian bite next time.

Junior plus 2 others please. We also need at least 1 mobile centre forward. Telford and Stockton if we keep them cant play together. Bar Newby and Junior theres no one in the squad with genuine out and out pace and alot of the time it shows

For me id make trying to get rid of Telford my no1 priority.

we will Jonty because we (too) often end up by being pushed back so we end up with a back 5 and a defensive midfielder hence the goal scoring problem ( plus Farman has made some wonder saves ) and we have 2 forwards having to feed off scraps !
