With all due respect to Rob Kelly he came in and crisis managed us to safety, but he wasn’t keen for staying. long term think we need to get someone who can work with the DoF and stick to coaching. I’m not a fan of it, but it seems to be the way we are going.

Things change Jonty, the manager should just tell the director of football the type of player he needs and they deal with the agent's etc.
The manager then sticks to tactics, set pieces and plan for each game, it's about trust, I think as a club we're learning it's been a tough call since coming back to the EFL but slowly but surely we're getting there, we as a group need to be positive in the end we'll get there BELIEVE!

I think it’s the other way round. It’s the The DofF who works with the Board of Directors and together set the footballing strategy for the whole footballing side- youth levels, through academies / B Team / first team / so the whole footballing side has the same approach. It takes recruitment away from the Manager and clubs who operate this model go down a “head coach” route who is there to do what the job says. Coach them to be the best footballers we can have against our footballing identify.
Some Managers will not like this. I suspect there’s a bit of this has happened with us.
It will go some way to sifting out who is likely to come here. Any traditional full “hands on” Managers won’t want to work this way.

Yes, if he's been poached, surely WE should be getting paid? That's the whole reason for the contracts surely?

When he took over plymouth they lost thier 2 best players who were on loan from villa and Stoke.
He implemented a high press style of play that the remaining players didn't buy into.
Still think he is a higher pedigree than wild was when Barrow appointed him.

If we go down this route then recruitment has to be spot on. It will be a totally different brand of football than we’ve seen with Wild. His teams play out from the back and hi energy press from the front. Ok when you’re bossing games but when you’re losing with 10 minutes to go there’s no time for patient build ups (as IE and Bolton found to their cost in the L1 play off final v Oxford). I’m not sure it works in lower leagues. It went wrong at Plymouth. We cant all be trying to copy Pep.

Probably time to stop the Luke Garrard thing. He’s just been relegated from the NL with Bhamwood after far too many years at that club. I’m also told the brand of football being played there last season was wretched.

Good manager. Went to BW vs Barrow season we got promoted and they were a strong, well drilled side who played good football. I remember Evatt had a lot of respect for him

Garrard would be my first choice, despite last season's failure. He had Boreham Wood punching above their weight for years. Dave Challinor was sacked by Fylde after one poor season and look at him now.

I can’t remember many if any games last season where we had a high press from the front. We let teams pass it round at the back and barely pressed at all. We barely pressed the opposition wingers who put in loads of crosses against us. This tactic got more pronounced as the season wore on. Probably instrumental in our poor formin the second half of the season.
