Making money?

Our accounts say different.

Could new member SteveMcnultyThighs kindly explain his use of the phrase Board happy making their £££ in league 2, preferably with reference to BAFC annual accounts and assessment of likely cash flow in 2023 and 2024, since, at the moment, that appears to be looking like the daftest phrase ever written on this forum, against tremendous competition?

It's arguably the worst possible time to lose a manager. as there is no one in place to co-ordinate pre-season recruitment.

It's never been an easy ride being a Barrow fan. And so it continues......What comes next?

Sad to see Pete go but we were shocking from Christmas. Playoffs should have been nailed on. Temple was the brains of the operation will he step up ?
Our forwards were left with slim pickings last few games had 2 men in Stockton and Telford should have scored a lot more. Hopefully the next man can get us playing

It’s precisely because the cause of this divorce from our manager has not been explained in more detail that a lot of these posts of pure speculation and claims of people of having special inside knowledge have been made .Thought that as trust are part owners things may have been made more transparent but probably difficult due to legal constraints on both sides.Am feeling disillusioned and gutted at this moment having enjoyed the developments at the club and team performances last couple of seasons..As usual with our club timing is awful with with people coming and going and questions remaining as to how long and how committed both staff and players will be.Have enjoyed the time with Evatt and Wild but it seems it’s always one step forward and three back at this club.I do hope we are not entering another season of nail biting relegation worries. Was really looking forward to next season.Dont think I will believe anything any manager says again .Thanks for the memories Pete Wild hope things work out for you .

This. Finally turned us into a “proper” League Two club imho, been great to have no sleepless nights worrying about relegation. Increased the crowds and gave us some great days/nights out. Can fully understand the board/Wood being annoyed at how we completely bottled making the play offs but would also have been very happy to see Wild stay. Quite obvious there’s been a big disagreement that neither side could work past, and it goes without saying everyone wishes Wild well for the future, seemed a great guy who genuinely appreciated how many folk from a working class town spent their hard earned money following their team.

It was highly likely that wild would be sort after getting the club to finish where it has from the position we were at when he took over. If the club doesn’t have some sort of compensation clause in him mutually leaving when he gets a new job next week then these “business men” who run the club are clowns

We have a director of football in charge and head of recruitment things will still be happening.

I would say losing a manager a few games into the season like we did with Paul Cox would be much worse than this.

Being a proper supporter is an unquestionably lifelong commitment.
The club comes first, irrespective of the owners, managers, or whoever might have an influence over and above the fans on the terrace and in the stand.
We want our staff and players to present loyalty to the cause come what may, and/or at least appear to be 100% pro Barrow.
On a day to day basis that is achievable, and we can get swept up by it, and Wild was very good at generating a feel good factor at the club with his winning fist bumps, and his clever rhetoric when interviewed, at least when we were getting good results.
Deep down we all know that in the long run, 99.9% of players and staff are out for themselves, entirely understandably, and heads will get, and do get, turned in an instant.
The badge thumping mentality is fragile and usually short lived. The examples of that at our club, in our league and across football are constant.
Personally I’m disappointed that Wild has gone, as he presented well amongst a league of clones, and not least because we undoubtedly have made footballing progress as far as results go. He was a breath of fresh air on and off the pitch.
So far the detail of why he’s gone is anyone’s guess, but in the most general of terms it must be because he and the board of directors no longer had each others back(s).
Ultimately the reality is that the owners have the power, or most, if not all of it.
The exception is probably an Evatt situation, where significant success brings an inevitable departure.
It’s just how it is, and I’m less bothered, as a lifelong supporter, that Wild has gone than I would be if Hornby and the others had said they’d had enough.
Time to go again, and can’t wait to see what happens next.

The comedy accounts are out in force, I note.

What do these people imagine Ian Wood has been doing these past two years since he was appointed (before Wild, whom we thank for his work)?

_One step forward and three back._ Really???

Suggesting that the owners who have put in so much effort and money to keep the club afloat might be clowns and that those volunteers who work so hard in the Trust and as Trust Director should enable the fan base to be privy to employees' contract and legal situations. Incredible!!!

Enjoy the close-season, folks, when the hard work behind the scenes will no doubt continue and let us hope the trolls and numpties quickly get bored.

After last seasons failure i thought we would give him a third season .
Personally i think he had reached his limits just like Evatt has.
We had good people step in when we looked like we were going to the wall.
Todate they have acted impeccably.I would be the first to criticise.

We have had some donkeys as Managers very important we make a good choice this season.

First priorty is to stay in the league second a good cup run.

Like you say more important that the backers do not walk away .
Thanks to all the Directors for what you have done so far.

I know someone who was asked by Paul Hornby to invest and he said i cannot make money and walked

Mark ( don't want a fight over this ! ) but , he knows agents, people like Dan Ashworth !, surely this helps us when gaining knowledge of who's available, what type of person they are ? and just for example say a Manager was meeting other club's with regards to future employment, I think we'd soon find out!
