Who thinks having a Director of Football with a First Team Coach is a good idea?If it works all well and good,but if we start off the new season badly what next?I am not saying this will happen,but if it does will heads roll?Didn,t Carlisle used to have one and they eventually went back.to just having a manager.? know Ian Wood has been great in getting people into the club,but surely a manager should have the final say on players always subject to affordability as he is the person who is closest to them.I would hate for us to be fighting relegation again after two reasonably successful seasons.
Thoughts please.

I honestly believe Iain Wood has played a bigger part in our success than Pete Wild.I’m presuming the Wood/Wild relationship has broken down, if that’s the case, it will be very interesting to see how Pete Wild copes on his own. One name to throw into the Manager’s hat. What about Jason Taylor? He knows the club inside out and has worked alongside Iain Wood.

Gary Bowyer 1/2. Decent bloke knows how to manage and lots of EFL experience but I’m not sure the Barrovian faithful will be all enamoured with it.

It's 2024 things have moved on !

We’re back to the root of the issue that has probably caused the current situation.

With a DoF there is no “manager” apart from the one in catering responsible for the pies.

The DoF delivers the assets. The coach trains them and develops them into a decent unit.

This is the relationship that should have been operating all season. Clearly it has not.

I’m not sure what Jason Taylor really brings if I’m honest. Our set plays on the whole were pretty poor and that’s supposed to be what he was responsible for, both defending and attacking them. Maybe time for a change there too. Just to add to the manager and tannoy announcer…

Bowyer has good experience was another one harshly sacked by Salford and went up to Dundee and won the championship, we could do a lot worse. Think he was involved in youth football too at Blackburn so would fit the bill.

He must also have seen us win many times under Evatt with a very high percentage of possession. (A bit like quoting Man City's high possession in today's Cup Final to suggest it isn't an effective tactic, despite the evidence of the rest of this season)

Can't wait to be inspired by Bowyers post match interviews another one who would send you to sleep on par with Mark Copper, hopefully Iain Wood won't be taking in by these type of manager's he must get the next appointment right.

Yes more often than not Evatt’s team was great to watch, I am just saying there’s more than one way to play the game and get results and it can be equally frustrating watching your team play possession football but getting nowhere.
