Re: Barrow’s next manager
Just for the record, Adam Temple is about as qualified as a coach as you can get. Based on that criterion alone he’d be as good a choice as anyone else.
However, there are other criteria of course. I’d certainly have him on an interview list though. Might be one reason he hasn’t yet handed in his badge.

Depends what you class as failure? Not making the playoffs from where we were was a failure, and he was part of the coaching staff that oversaw that. One of the reasons the BOD got rid of Wild was he thought finishing 8th from the position we were in was acceptable because we were 'little old Barrow' and in his words 'we shouldnt complain, as weve never had it as good'. Glad the board got rid. I dont expect Temple to stay to be honestrussell_anderson wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 3:06 pmWhy? He would be an unknown just as many other suggestions on this board. At least he wouldn't have a record of failure which is also what many other suggestions on here have been.

Firstly, most on here, including myself, don't know if Wild was sacked or whether he resigned.beachy01 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 3:24 pmDepends what you class as failure? However, the few that have some inside knowledge and posted about his imminent departure said that he was being sacked because he had been touting himself for other jobs.
I certainly haven't seen anything from any of those people which implied he was sacked because of our awful end of season results.
Overall, last season wasn't a failure in terms of results although the last part certainly was. I'm neutral re his departure because I didn't enjoy the type of football I was watching which was nothing like the level that Evatt's team played. However, in terms of results it couldn't be considered anything but a successful season in comparison to most previous ones.

He wasnt sacked or resigned for that. The statement from the club was correct. Difference of opinion ranging from issues like league position, form, drop in form at the same time over 2 seasons and what he was going to do about it, signings for next season (targets were woeful and uninspiring to say the least) and also potentially that he lost the dressing room at the endrussell_anderson wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 3:34 pmFirstly, most on here, including myself, don't know if Wild was sacked or whether he resigned.beachy01 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 3:24 pm

Absolutely nothing to confirm what you are saying from the actual club statement below.beachy01 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 3:39 pmHe wasnt sacked or resigned for that. In a statement, the south Cumbrian club said: "Following a post-season review Barrow AFC can confirm that it has today parted company with their manager Pete Wild.
"It became apparent during the review that the club and Pete had different perspectives on the way forward, so it was mutually agreed that this was the best and most appropriate way to proceed.
“We wish Pete well in his future endeavours.

This in MHO would be our best option:Barrow afc 2018 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 1:12 pm Would come as no surprise if the appointment didn’t come from within, that would provide continuity and save money with the emphasis on saving money. There are no guarantees whichever road the club goes down.
1 The guys are already under contract
2 They know the club culture
3 They’ve already been part of our 2 most successful seasons in decades
4 They know the squad and its nuances
5 They’ll be aware of what it’ll take to progress the team
6 They’ve got first dibs on the best seats on the bus
7 they’ll hit the ground running
Etc Etc
Gamble probably yes, but I’d give em a chance and with our great supporters we’ll get 110% behind them.

Possibly told they were downgrading his position to Head Coach and he would have to report to the DOF.

Re: Barrow’s next manager
He coached little kiddies who played for one of many of cities junior sides. Academy manager makes out he was something he wasn't.
Mark my words his appointment would be a disaster.
Re: Barrow’s next manager
Those shouting for Temple and Taylor-
I’m not against it, but they were there ever present on the touch line last season and couldn’t stop the poor end of the season. Do you think without Wild they would change the way we play and do you think they could get the best out of Garmer / Acquah / Telford?

Re: Barrow’s next manager
Wilds style of managing expectations was negative and i suspect it came from him alone in order to conversely manage expectations of himself. If he did lose the dressing room I wouldn't be surprised as his end of season interviews were very different to Canavan s.
Non of the other coaches mentioned so far have more experience than Temple and yes it would be a gamble but the same can be said of all the coaches mentioned previously.
Whoever they go for they need to crack on with it...at least temple knows the club players, staff and ambition of the club and can hit the ground running.
I also liked his energy on the touchline there's no doubting his winning mentality.

Quite so. It reminds me of the Private Eye cover when Truss and Sunak were vying for the leadership with each saying: "Only I can sort out the mess left by the government I was in!"Jonty wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 4:56 pm Those shouting for Temple and Taylor-
