Saw him playing for Kingstonian in the 1990 Trophy run.

He’d not lost any of his considerable, er, stature.
I founded and wrote for a fanzine years ago called the Chelsea Independent. We instituted a 'trophy' named after Micky Droy, awarded to any player who managed to kick the ball into the third tier of the east stand, which was then further from the pitch than it is now.

I saw Micky Droy play at Carlisle in 1983 I think. Butch Wilkins too . Droy headed the Carlisle goalies punt about 50 yards back down the pitch. It was incredible. He was physically immense.

I used to buy that whenever I was in Sportspages. Is it still going?

I think Droy was playing for Kingstonian when we played them in the FA Trophy game in 1990?

Just seen someone else already said that

Is the Gary Chivers you talk about actually the big centre forward who played for England called Martin Chivers? What a great centre forward he was.

Nope no relation as far as I’m aware, he was a pretty versatile defender back in the day.

Can’t see too many Cockneys being enchanted to a new life in Cape Cod however.
Cape Cod? What's Massachusetts got to do with it?

Perhaps I mean Cabot Cove. Or is that where Jessica Fletcher lived?

I’ve been speaking with Ben Jackson ahead of tomorrow’s game at Stamford Bridge:

Barrow match is now the main game on Sky Sports+ (Channel 412) due to the Wimbledon postponement. Does that mean extra TV revenue for the club?

As for Wimbledon's pitch they now have a sinkhole dues to the heavy rain. Will be very surprised the Chelsea game will be called of as all premier league pitches are about 60% synthetic and drain quite well. However, who knows!

No as it isn’t considered a main TV pick

The main TV game tomorrow is Wycombe v Villa

For those unable to travel for whatever reason, the Chelsea match will now be screened live on Sky Sports plus following the postponement of Wimbledon v Newcastle due to flooding
