Not being funny but I'd rather we just won ,think the board and Clemence needs to meet the player's and tell them we need more They are all responsible!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:23 pmIf we were playing awful I would be concerned but the facts are we are not playing badly. Even Paul Cox in his post match summary Said the best team lost today. Last week at home to Wimbledon we looked like we would go on to win the game after equalising only to have two minutes of madness in defence that was so unlike us. Keep the faith hold your nerve our luck will turn and we will be fine.

I do get what you are saying but I don’t want us to become a “too good to go down” team but do. Not good enoughMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:23 pmIf we were playing awful I would be concerned but the facts are we are not playing badly. They are giving there all. We are playing well without any luck at the moment. We have been very unlucky with injuries this season not something we have had a major issue with really since we retuned to the football league so I guess law of averages say we were due an injury hit season every club has them from time to time.blue nige wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:29 pmNot being funny but I'd rather we just won ,think the board and Clemence needs to meet the player's and tell them we need more They are all responsible!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:23 pm

We are slowly getting consumed by all around yet SC quotes that we are still only 3 points off a play off place. No shit Sherlock but it’s not working for one reason or another and that doesn’t look like it’s going to change any time soon. Yes we are unlucky with injuries lately but something is fundamentally wrong.

Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
Forget Telford we have all seen more than enough; got to be a new man in come January. I would like to think we are already in negotiations to solve this glaring problem.Jonty wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:19 pmSurely we want Telford to be that goal poaching one touch goal specialist but maybe he needs to play off the shoulder of a second striker and get free rein to do that, but Clemence persists on one up front. He could have started him with Dallas today (if he had thoughts going into the game for Kouyaye coming on second half in a change of shape). Surely that’s trying something different from the start given our lack of goals
Telford has been EFL L2 top scorer, been in a title winning side, won player of the year awards and been included in the EFL L2 team of the season. It was a great signing for us on paper, yet it’s not worked for him here. Are we playing to his strength's? He’s not the only one struggling in front of goal. All our recognised strikers are. Maybe we need a striker / finishing coach in the coaching staff. We have a goalkeeping coach and a set piece coach.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Head coach over other coaches - do we have a striker coach who can work with out strikers who all have different playing styles - so it’s never an obvious one for one swap out. Changing Dallas for Kouyate today and you have two very different players but with the same shape and players around them. Is he going to persist on this tactic and expect it to change?blumooncrab wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:25 pm I think Clemence has enough credit left to have time to turn it around but he’s spending it quickly. I’m sure he’s a good coach but can he manage the way out? Hope so( ok he’s head coach but the responsibility to turn it is his).

I am not sure that it was as straightforward as that - "you didn't make the playoffs so you are fired". I believe there was more to the decision than that.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 5:42 pm (although the board did sack Wild for not making the play offs….)
Regarding our present situation, which to us fans seems like the football equivalent of the water torture, I think we need to wait until January and assess the situation then. If we don't have at least 30 points by then, I would be seriously nervous.
Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
We don't seem to be creating chances, so perhaps it is not down to the strikers and we need to be looking at the ability of our midfield players and the formation?Jonty wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:43 pm Head coach over other coaches - do we have a striker coach who can work with out strikers who all have different playing styles - so it’s never an obvious one for one swap out. Do you think Clemence would speak to RC again this week or even after next weeks game if Adam asked him do you think your going to get sacked? Of course not!
Always easy to sit here and say Adam should ask this that and the other, he certainly doesn’t give him an easy ride but you can’t just ask him do you think you’ll get sacked

He wasn't sacked. Paul Hornby went to great lengths to emphasise that when Wild left. The problem is many see by stating the board sacked Wild as a legitimate stick to beat the board with when it simply isn't true.Jim wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:43 pmI am not sure that it was as straightforward as that - "you didn't make the playoffs so you are fired". The difference between a good team and a bad team is that more often than not a good might play badly and still win, a bad team can play well and still get beat.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:23 pmIf we were playing awful I would be concerned but the facts are we are not playing badly. I don't think we have a striker who wants to bust a gut, put his head where it hurts or give 110% for the team; feel free to add your own well-worn cliche but the only ones with a bit of a spark are loanees Popov and Dallas and surely thay are holding back a bit to try and avoid injury.Jim wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:46 pmWe don't seem to be creating chances, so perhaps it is not down to the strikers and we need to be looking at the ability of our midfield players and the formation?Jonty wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:43 pm Head coach over other coaches - do we have a striker coach who can work with out strikers who all have different playing styles - so it’s never an obvious one for one swap out. Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
How many times now we have been unable to see out games, it's getting embarrassing. That goal we conceded was as bad as any we have let in this season Sunday league stuff. Saying all that conceding one goal away from home isn't bad it's our glaring inability to score goals is our achilles heal. I'm definitely looking down the table now. Find a striker in Jan or its a relegation battle simple as that.
Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
You can throw some of the others into not wanting to bust a gut as well. Ive seen players pull out of headers and tackles far to much this season. Mahoney is stealing a wage amd he isnt the only one. Cant believe Newby plays every week, not allowed to be critisised, the game the other week where Vassell tried to buy a foul and they scored, Newby pulled out of a header on halfway, which he does every week right in front of us. Gutless, imagine being a full grown adult and being scared to header or tackle. As for Adam asking the tough questions, dont make me laugh!!Wintergreen wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:53 pmI don't think we have a striker who wants to bust a gut, put his head where it hurts or give 110% for the team; feel free to add your own well-worn cliche but the only ones with a bit of a spark are loanees Popov and Dallas and surely thay are holding back a bit to try and avoid injury.
From what ive heard, striker and midfielder already agreed for Jan, but things can change before then

Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
I'm very sceptical of this " we've been unlucky with injuries " excuse,we're either not preparing right, or the training is wrong or our medical team are too cautious or the player's just don't appear to want to rush back but something is seriously wrong every injury is taking weeks, I thought this might happen with so many player's contracts are up this season, it's an absolute disaster and whether people like it or not we are in freefall and it'll be touch and go if we stay up, I honestly hope I'm totally wrong!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:35 pmThey are giving there all.
