I was asking because I know it was a problem last year and the weather in Autumn was awful - can’t blame the club, it’s a combination of nature/location and 48 years with minimal investment. Salford, Bradford, Colchester, Crewe, etc don’t have the same excuse. One thing that struck me last year was how often the weather was atrocious on match days (e.g. Accrington just after Christmas), whereas this year it has often been better on match days, after heavy rain. That must help the ground staff. Looking ahead, there is no significant rain in the next 10 days, which should help, although some warmth to get the grass growing would be great (unlikely I guess).

Looked at the Newport pitch last week when we were there - immaculate! also had rugby pitch markings, do they share they ground? Maybe we should share with the rugby?

Just seen the extended highlights. Spence's first goal reminded me a little of Kemy Augustien's goal against Salford from nearly the same spot on the pitch. Maybe Kian's wasn't quite as good as that one, but then, very few goals are...

I thought exactly the same as soon the ball settled in the back of the net, Augustine’s probably the better of the two…..but what a strike.
Gotts hasn’t been mentioned too much - probably because Spence, Williams & Foley shone so much yesterday, Gottsy just quietly went about his business but a very impressive game by him.
Lots for the manager to think about now with so many players stepping up. The confidence seems to be returning.

For me Robbie Gotts has been our most consistent player since Xmas. Long may it continue

Agreed. For a young player that was so inconsistent he has been a picture of consistency during a very unsettling period.

Much better performance from the whole team, can`t understand the constant criticism of Pressley thought he did well with some nice headers and support play, but won`t be a Barrow performance with at least one player getting stick, MJ Williams excellent game along with Gotts, Spence was limping badly after the game and Whitfield probably a bit knackered after little game time recently, play like that on Tuesday against MK Dons and we should get something from the game. Total meltdown from Gillingham Manager and Owner after defeat.

And rightly so imo As both Adam and Jason said when you play in the position Pressley played yesterday there is so much more to the role than scoring goals. Pressley had it in spades yesterday and it didn’t go unnoticed by the Holker st crowd who quite rightly gave him a rapturous ovation when he was taken off having given his all.

Thanks for posting that, Arvo. How good it was to see the highlights of that sensational match again and, I have to say, the camera coverage was great. I agree that Kemy Augustien's effort pips Kian's goal on Saturday but they were both fantastic long-range efforts. As you rightly say, very few goals (certainly if we're talking long-range shots) could better that one by Kemy Augustien (almost wrote Kemi Badenoch there but thankfully just realised in time . . . it's an unlikely image that's going to stick in my mind for the rest of today . . . )

Great win. Tyler Smith running into the box and pointing to get it in front of him is exactly what we have needed up front.

And (elephant-in-the-changing-room) exactly what Dom Telford should have been doing for the last two seasons.

Smith and Acquah were positioned side by side and it was Smith who showed the instinct to run into the box and anticipate the whipped in low cross. All three great goals, but the third was the top goal out of the three for me because it’s what I want to see our strikers doing, keeping up with the attack, running into space and showing where he wanted it played.
