They won't be a better time to play Carlisle they needed wins from the last couple of games and were not playing top sides. Gillingham were fairly abysmal at Barrow.

They signed lots of players in the window but you can't play them all. If we lose on Thursday it would be a blow but certainly not a fatal one for us. Carlisle need to be picking up more than a point a game to overtake us even if we don't get any more points.

Don't underestimate the threat of Carlisle. Listened to their game yesterday and it sounds like they did everything but score. I would argue they are showing signs of a great escape act and it just needs that first win to kick start a recovery. Considering we've just shipped 6 in the last two games and our never ending inconsistency up front. They will see this as a massive opportunity to get points and we have a bad habit of choking in these games. Hands down biggest game of the season and we absolutely must be on top of our game.

I’ll be cup half empty, but that is from what I’ve seen of my own team, If we don't come out showing aggression in every tackle, chasing every second ball and and every player taking responsibility to do their job we will get beat and the table starts looking a lot different, especially with Notts away the following Tuesday night.

The crowd also has a massive part to play, you know their fans are going to be very loud and well up for it, so lets make sure we are equally backing the lads and shouting for absolutely everything.

Carlisle have had immense support away from home all season, but it hasn't inspired their team one jot.

It only seems to happen away, we've won 3 out of 4 since Whing arrived and We should have drawn with Doncaster.
I honestly think Whing and the team are overthinking this away stat,
The win will come, all we get is the mantra off whing and players is it's not good enough, we KNOW but let's stop going on about how poor it's been and just get on with it !

I am sure the crowd certainly will play their part on Thursday night and this is what worries me - everyone in the ground will understand that it's a derby match, the supporters, the media, the police and because they train in Carlisle - the Carlisle players especially.
Now I'm not saying there is anything wrong in us training in Manchester but, because we train in Manchester (I don't think our players have the same affinity with the town) will our players be up for the fight as much as the Carlisle players because I have always felt in the past that there was always something missing from our team when there was a derby match involvement.

Judging by Canavans interview he certainly understands what Thursday is about , let’s hope he can pass that to the players selected. I would send BarrowAberdeen into the dressing room pre kick off if they would like to know more.

Atmosphere will certainly be a good one and with the Holker Street End doing a tifo its sure to be a good platform to create it

Why do you recon Carlisle will be fired up for it ? They are rock bottom of the EFL, only won one if their last 10 games, and non under their new manager, their away support hasn't managed to inspire them to anything beyond mediocrity all season ?

We have won 3 out of the 4 home games since Andy Whing took charge.
Lost to a really good Doncaster side but came from a goal down to beat MK Dons.
Have also scored 9 times so should be full of confidence for Thursday's encounter.

Totally agree. There are some bluebird posters on this thread that seem more fired up for a Carlisle win than the majority of Carlisle supporters themselves. Think it’s probably better to ignore the forum until some level of sanity returns on Friday.
