When is Wood going to take some of the flack for this? Its like they've just signed players for the sake of it, not looking at our formation and how we play and lets not start on our forwards.
I thought exactly that at the time - just getting in new players for the sake of it.

I agree that Wood is the prime character in all of this but he is fireproof after the BOD gave him a place amongst themselves.

Whing may eventually get the boot but the root of the problem will still be here!

To say that wasn't a good game would be an understatement, but we should never have lost it.

We weren't great, but Cambridge were no better, and once again we have been let down by weak defending for the two goals.

The answer isn't rocket science, though it does appear to have eluded our recruitment team for some time........sign some players who can defend and don't try to make lightweight wingers into defenders.

We'll have to muddle through until January when hopefully we can sign a physical right back and a right sided central defender.

Don’t think Acquah return is the answer to our problems. He’s not scored a single league goal for Dundee and is warming the bench up there. Marginally better then what we’ve got now maybe but that’s not saying much.

The BBC site has it down as 3024 it doesn’t say how many away fans.

Agree I thought he played well and should have been awarded Man of the match or player as it’s now called.

Not sure if the new team thing can still be used 17 games in. I would say we have got some results when we have only been good in spells and we have got away with some, largely down to some great performances from Stanway. Never see players barking orders on the pitch, they never look to each other after a goal is conceded, or showing frustration at missing a chance or being subbed off. You need that extra edge on the pitch competitively.
The body language from the players was awful. On two occasions when a trainer was on the opportunity to gather around the coaching team on the touchline was there but players just stood around in various parts of the pitch.
Personally I think Whing has lost the dressing room and I thought that before Rob Kelly came in but his addition definitely got a spark out of the squad. Since his departure we appear to have reverted back to how we were before he came in.
I do believe we have a decent squad who are more than capable of surviving in this league but sadly yesterday’s performance told me the players have no belief in what the manager is trying to do.
I like Whing as a person he gets the club the town and the fans but sadly he and his assistant appear out of there depth and for the good of the club and the wellbeing of Andy Whing he needs to be let go
Surely we can’t afford to change manager even if we wanted to. He signed a two and a half year contract in January.
I do worry though for his mental well being. In a way I think he actually cares too much and he’s trying too hard. If he relaxed a bit I genuinely think he’d be more successful.

"Wonder of we can get Emile back on loan coz hes better than all of this lot"

spot on-big mistake letting him go.
Very few if anyone was saying that at the time. The massive surprise was that we actually got a fee for him.
Like many have said we don’t have bad players what we do appear to have is a coaching team who are incapable of coaching and setting a side up to get the best out of them
I was saying it was a mistake to let him go at the time. He just needed to be worked on. Where is our glimmer of hope coming from? MJ, Newbs, Whits and, once in a while, Shipley are the only outfield players who look like they either give a damn or are able to make a difference. The whole experience of going to watch Barrow (match-day experience and playing level) is just becoming a chore. Getting rid of Wild and keeping Wood will prove to be the biggest mistake this well-meaning board will have ever made. I couldn't care less if Whing is a nice bloke or not. That's not what football is about. You do it, or you move on. It's time to move on.

Remind me. Who sourced the training ground we currently use and built and worked on the infrastructure at the training site enabling it to be suitable for a league two club? It’s no secret he spends many hours during in the off season doing work on the training ground in prep for new season Who worked alongside the GMV with the ideas for the facilities under the grandstand for the players families making it more appealing and comfortable for them to attend games. Who negotiated the contracts and salaries for any incoming players? Doubtless that’s just a fraction of what he does. The infrastructure of the club has been transformed since Iain Wood came in.

Can somebody please remind me what the first 2 seasons back in the league were like before Ian Wood came to the club?

I don't deny all the marvellous things which Wood has done and is still doing - it's a real boon to the club.

However I may be wrong but it seems he is having an undue influence when it comes to buying players. That used to be the prerogative of the team manager as was - head coach as now is - and it was his decision who to buy.

I may be completely wrong but I get the feeling that Wild left because he felt that Wood was having too much influence over the signing of players.

I know they now say that Wood, Whing and Harvey all contribute to the signing of players, but I would rather see the Whing and Harvey do it on their own as the two men who have had more experience on the footballing side.

Wood is not a problem currently. Criticism of him at the moment is pointless hindsight.
He might have a significant say in January. Recruited players are what you can afford, and who wants to come here, and we are stuck with what we have.
We just are not in the market to pay e.g. £900,000 for a striker - MK Dons.
Personally I think some of the players are not good enough for L2, though I'll always support them if they look like they are trying. Yesterday didn't look good in that department.
If the players are substandard, it's down to the manager to get a tune out of them, engender attitude, commitment and team spirit.
I wish I could say otherwise, but don't thing Whing is showing he can do it anywhere near effectively.
Interviews before and after matches are generally regurgitated rubbish, and he's very very poor at them.
