At 2-0 I thought we had a decent chance of getting a point! - a measure of the lack of confidence instilled by recent results. Fortunately tonight the players did not share that lack of confidence. Though Canavan's antics led to a vary nervous last half hour, for me at least. Fortunately Raglan was superb.

I thought Winterbottom was fouled for the Tranmere goal, but there didn't seem to be many complaints from the players on the pitch.

Great result. Good team effort. McCann outstanding for me. Fletcher looked decent to.

Just got home - last minute decision to go, but it was really worth it! Just posting to agree with this post - Charlie McCann is excellent, a hard worker and a great footballer. Whits was good as usual and I agree that Fletcher was very good until he was sacrificed. That double save by Winterbottom was fantastic - right in front of us, seemed certain to go in. Great team performance - well done to them and the manager.
Canavan was stupid for the second yellow, but he should never have been given the first one - much worse went unpunished. We won despite some poor decisions (by the ref and Canavan).

I suspect similar to the meltdown on here when they walloped us 3-0, when the “pantomime” was in town (ref Gavin Skelton’s text to Adam in commentary).

Canavan - unfortunately having a season to forget. Would still have him in the team but just my opinion, need a new skipper. I don’t think he’s vocal enough for a captain anyway, but with all these red cards I think someone else should get the armband.

I don’t think anyone saw that coming, for once we were quite ruthless first half. Took three of our chances and looked a genuine threat every time we went forwards. Good build up play for the first and a nice finish from Jackson - who to me should always be in the team when fit. Second from one of his corners and the third off a good break after winning the ball in the middle and Fletcher reacting quickest.

Yes Tranmere had chances you’ll never dominate a full game and they have some decent players but I never really thought we were hanging on even with ten men, although going 2-3 would’ve been nervy.

Good saves from Winterbottom first and second half who deserved his chance although unfortunately got injured, but Stanway did well what he had to do when he came on. Silly from Canavan with his experience although his first was soft and towards the end a Tranmere player booted the ball away when it was our free kick and didn’t even get a word…

I don’t actually think lack of effort on the whole has been an issue but certain games we seem
To have had an extra bit of grit and resilience when needed, usually when we’ve been down to ten men ala Walsall and Barnet previous. There is a team in there I think most have agreed, still shortfalls but playing like that more often than not they’ll be ok. That’s the challenge now to build on it and make sure it’s not a one off…maybe it can be a turning point.

I thought the same when there player booted ball away and then it's moments like that, that frustrate the life out of folk.. inconsistent!

Overall, a good watch and great to get the goals.

Canavan was stupid in what he did and it could have cost us dearly but thanks to the rest of the team, we came away with a brilliant win.

Took me til after the game to work out who was co commentator with Adam, at some moments, I actually thought it was a woman with him because he has such a soft voice.. sorry Angus.

If we can repeat this against Salford I think it should settle the nerves a little and with so many games to go, let's hope we can push for a top half finish because after last night, it proved we do indeed have the players and quality.

We definitely have a talented squad of players to pick a team from but sometimes we just shoot ourselves in the foot. 3-0 up and cruising and everyone knows Tranmere will come out fired up, you just have to survive 10/15 minutes but we just do things the barrow way I can see why the board have made a change because I bet this squads costing a few quid and probably should be challenging play offs rather then going down.

Going into the season without a right back killed us as it dragged our defence around trying to make it work, the wing backs system doesn’t work. You saw it yesterday every time there was a turn over, Tranmere couldn’t deal with the pace of whits Gordon and fletch running at them, I don’t know why’s it’s took us that long to get some support around the striker. I’m still convinced that on it’s day there’s not many better midfield 3s in the league then what we put out last night, just need some consistency

Not gonna lie, did not see that coming and to get off to a flyer - three up at HT, cant remember the last time we did that!?

Brilliant for the whole team and fans well played boys (well 10 out of 11) I haven't seen any of it so for once can look forward to highlights later.

Stockport away first match of the season in August 2022 I think. It was Wilds first match as manager. 3 up at HT and hung on to win 3-2.

The most recent time I think was at home to Hartlepool later that season when we were 3-0 up after 21 minutes. Finished 3-1.
