I don't know how long the bus takes from the station to the ground, but it's only half an hour by rail from (eg) Darlington and Harrogate, and 20 minutes from Doncaster.

Its about 180,000 population so in comparison it shows how well supported Carlisle United are.Jim wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 10:21 amAnd they have a much bigger hinterland, able to draw people from a 50 mile radius or more with quite good transport links in all directions. Re: Tonight’s Q&A
The biggest thing I took from last nights session through the very open and honest discussion, is that our club needs us now more than ever.
Come on let’s drag everyone to HS and get behind the lads and the club. They really are working their socks off.

As in it doesn’t matter what tactic you play - it’s down to the players to have the desire to go out there and put the hard yards in
Tactics are a tiny fragment of the game itself - the main and important part is that the players work hard and pull together and get the basics right

Sounds like he's sussed out that one or two players can't be bothered and are just there for the money. Hopefully he has the ability to give them the desire and pride in the team to do what they are paid for!

Sounds like excellent Q&A - open and honest and clarity. Thanks for the summary Matty and others.

The Head Coach has the job of ensuring that the players give value for money.
I had the impression last night that PG will do so, wanting a more determined/aggressive side and players who will put in maximum effort to recover the ball when it is lost. We saw more signs of that today and the captain using his right to engage the referee much more than previously.
I expect that steady improvement will continue under PG and we will see the true quality of this squad.

Re: Tonight’s Q&A
I can't help thinking PG might be on thin ice with the squad - questioning their desire and desperate to bring others in ASAP. His priorities should be motivation and organisation and maybe they are I wouldn't know. But in his desperation for success and giving the impression he needs 11 new recruits could de-motivate the currently available players. Worrying times.

Re: Tonight’s Q&A
It should act as a kick up the backside and make them want to prove him wrong and start performing, whether it’s to stay here or get attention from elsewhere. Sadly I think a lot of our players are on their way down in their careers and you can see why the likes of Mahoney have dropped down the divisions so much. PG probably knows it needs a rebuild but cant say as much yet as he still needs them to do a job for him.Wintergreen wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 9:18 am I can't help thinking PG might be on thin ice with the squad - questioning their desire and desperate to bring others in ASAP. Re: Tonight’s Q&A
All our aim has to be is survival by any means necessary after taking 48 years to get here it would be a shame to leave after only 6 years back so the board have to gamble to secure our league status surley as in the long run we're better off in the efl than the national league for status and funding and grants etc I know we have paid fees for 2 signings and a loan player but I think we need another 2 players brought in and ship Hemmings & Walker out on loan and maybe another of Cameron & Mahoney
