Re: Paul Hornby Interview
Good lad, Ste, but there is definitely a post of mine that is no longer visible. Perhaps due to another mod, software algorithms or higher level interference.
Regardless, that isn't important. The issue is the concern we should have over decision-makers at the club throwing one another under the bus as the shit hits the fan.

Re: Paul Hornby Interview
Just for clarity, can you say what the 'lie' and 'admission of criminality' relate to, as the only admission I picked up on was him admitting he made a mistake when describing the parachute payment arrangements?Always Ultra wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2026 7:06 pmI have a screenshot from the Google Index but others have confirmed that they saw the post...
Thanks for your comment, nige, but there is no grounds for a "court appearance" on my part.
Let me break this down for you...
In a recent Evening Mail article and BBC Radio interview, Paul Hornby has openly admitted to lying to paying members at an AGM.
Many have posted on here, regarding his comments at that meeting, on Iain Wood and other subjects. All of the above is a matter of public record, not any form of rumour or innuendo.
Allow me to refer you to Jamieson Law....
"Under the Companies Act 2006, directors must act honestly and promote the success of the company for the benefit of its members. Falsifying information or lying is a direct breach of these duties."
Now lets look at The Law Society...
"Deliberately misleading stakeholders to gain a financial advantage or cause loss to investors can trigger criminal fraud charges (e.g., under the Fraud Act 2006). Furthermore, organisations can be held criminally liable if they fail to prevent fraud committed for their benefit."
Hornby's confession is just one evidence of criminality within our football club. Whether or not it represents the tip of the iceberg, is a matter for personal opinion, which is protected by the European Convention for Human Rights.
legislation.gov.uk says...
"You cannot be successfully sued for libel or slander if your statement is deemed an "honest opinion". Under the Defamation Act 2013, this defense requires that the statement must be something an honest person could have held based on the available facts."
I make no bones with Ste Story (or whoever runs the forum) for moderating. However, I fear people, inside and outside the club, are increasingly being pressured by the Hornby regime not to speak truth to power.
Apologies for the long post, but hopefully many of you agree that the issues raised warrant concern.

Re: Paul Hornby Interview
That was a second one.
Backing Iain Wood and saying there was no reason for concern (and now admitting that he had uncovered gross incompetence and intended to sack him) was entirely misleading to paying customers and stakeholders.
There is also the instance of him suggesting that Craig Rutherford misrepresented the completeness of the academy project.
etc. etc.

PH has admitted mistakes, and is clever and decent enough to learn from them, as he has said.
Do you want blood? Or a coup?
Just leave it.
Let’s just get on supporting the team in the new season.
Otherwise it will be painful experience of different kind if you can’t just move on.

It always amazes me why some people have to try their absolute best to destroy the optimism and positivity of this club!!Hitthebar22 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2026 9:21 amWhat is the point of this post? What is the actual point?Always Ultra wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2026 11:39 pm That was a second one.

Everyone makes mistakes, owning them shows character.
If anyone on here thinks they can do a better job then fine, put your money where your mouth is and crack on!

Re: Paul Hornby Interview
Very few if anybody on here has the money to run the club. Just because Hornby puts money in does not mean he cannot be criticised. To be fair the interviews by Adam were good but a lot of what was said quite rightly has created talking points on this forum. It is after all what a forums for. Personally I find the way he called the physio out and threw her under the bus disappointing. Some things need to be kept in house. She has gone but I can’t imagine she will be happy with what he saidolbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2026 12:33 pmIt always amazes me why some people have to try their absolute best to destroy the optimism and positivity of this club!!Hitthebar22 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2026 9:21 am

Saying he was six weeks ahead of the fans was patronising imo. Many fans were months ahead of him and backed us to go down after Xmas at good odds.
Add to that the backing of wood collectively by the board at the Q&A when in the interview they knew of issues.
If it wasn’t for the fact he pumps money in the vitriol after those interviews would have been far harsher imo
Re: Paul Hornby Interview
I see and agree with some of the points above but at the same time in an already disastrous season, I wonder if it was a damage limitation and PR thing to keep it in house until the end of the season, given that with two weeks left of the season we did still have a chance of staying up. Not sure that coming out then with statements and criticisms would’ve done any good not that it could’ve been much worse.
Hornby football wise is naive I think, most on here knew we were in trouble back in September when Andy Whing was scratching his ears and then getting bailed out by Rob Kelly. Ever since that and not binning Whing sooner, we were in trouble but still had January to rectify it. The rest is history…
That being said he’s been quite honest and open and you can’t question his commitment, he needs it to happen on the pitch this season to restore some faith and pride. Arguably our biggest season yet this one under his ownership. I wondered after last year if he might’ve just thought enough is enough so credit to him.

Re: Paul Hornby Interview
We need to draw a line under last season. Last season was a disaster from Start to finish. This next season is year zero. Let's judge the board on the decisions from now on
Re: Paul Hornby Interview
Aye the dust hasn’t settled for some yet and understandably so.
But the only way forward at this time is by showing solidarity.
This next season may ultimately define us as a club going forward.
So let’s fully engross ourselves in our 125th year anniversary as we have come such a long way, despite all the turmoil and adversity along the way we are still alive and kicking as a football club.

Re: Paul Hornby Interview
Previous spells in the National League have been from coming up, not going down. And understandably those seasons brought optimism.
The irony is, we are best placed now as a National League club than we ever have been so we should be more optimistic than ever. Coming down has that opposite effect though!
I think our 5 seasons in the Football League has changed, if even slightly, our perception of ourselves and probably other clubs perception of us. If we can get back some really good home form and make holker street a place teams dread coming I think this could be a good season.
I don’t think we will win the league but anything below playoffs would be a huge disappointment.
From coming up, we would not have our sights on playoffs , we just wanted to survive.

The hardest thing is to get that state of mind installed in those around you, (Ian Evatt June 2018/2020 had just that vision.

Re: Paul Hornby Interview
I find some of the conjecture on here a bit baffling and wonder how some people perceive the operation of Barrow AFC. Paul Hornby is a director of a private limited company called Barrow Bluebirds Limited, the nature of that business is as a sports club. We are the customers.
It's great that Paul keeps us informed of things and admits mistakes were made but it is literally none of our business how he and the other directors run this loss making company. Some of this criticism and indignation is playing with fire in my opinion; one other director has recently thrown the towel in and if Paul Hornby arises one morning and thinks ' why do l bother?' there will be no Barrow AFC anymore.
United we stand, divided we fall.

Customers have statutory rights.
The club existed for 118 years without Hornby.

True, but it won’t currently last 118 minutes without him.Always Ultra wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2026 2:54 pm Customers have statutory rights.
