Apologies if it’s been mentioned before today, but does anyone know who the three trialists that featured today were? #23 in the first half, the giant #24 who replaced him and the #28 young RB second half.

i thought 28 was Harrop again? 24 didn't impress against Workington last week, but looked a lot better today, but don't know who he is.

23 was at fault for both the 1st half Mansfield goals

I would stay well clear of 23 and 24 28 was not Josh harrop, it was a trialist who has been playing in previous friendlys though I feel they’ve gave him 28 to take the attention off harrop as people would have been in the stands looking out for our number 28 everyone’s talking about, I suspect harrop signs in the next week

Entertaining workout for the squad, defence was like a dogs hind leg at times. Right back was poor but a couple of trialling players impressed a midfielder and defender. Reid smashed his goal home with conviction and Whitfield took his goal well after switching to his best position of left wing and George Walker looks like he could be a huge asset scoring a cracker and providing a few decent opportunities for others.

I really enjoyed the match this afternoon and am so glad I went. Ok it was only a friendly and you shouldn’t read too much into it but the difference from last season was huge. First we seem to have more of a willingness to get forward and second the squad seems stronger in depth. There just seems more positivity around the whole place both on the field and in the ground. Onwards and upwards

I agree with that. We looked sharper and fitter and was good to see us crunching into tackles too friendly or not. Williams in particular who will be a big player for us. The workrate and pressing of everyone was there and obviously the fitness helps there which we lacked last season. The left sided 23 and Jackson were caught out for both goals as well as Winterbottom needing to do better for the second, and Barrett fpr their third. I was impressed with our wide play though going forwards especially Walker when he came on and we looked a threat and direct.

Lots of work to do still and time to do it in but a lot of encouragement there. And also nice to see a managwr in Murray barking out instructions, encouragement and rollickings when needed. And a lot more spirit in the players on the sidelines too it seems.

What I liked about today was how fluid we were in and out of possession. On the face of it, it was a back 5 not too dissimilar to how we set up for the majority of last season. But it was noticeable on more than a few occasions how much freedom the centre backs had in coming forward, either in possession or to press when out of possession. It’s a much more front foot, proactive approach.

We all do but it isnt a must win game id happily take a point at hartlepool one of the toughest fixtures of the season

Murray has a good record and he seems to have this team alot fitter and sharper.
I honestly think we can beat them.
