Agree. Unfortunately I'm not sure that we actually know how good or bad some of our players are. Its been apparent for some time that the type of effort and commitment that we got used to under Evatt was not forthcoming, for whatever reason, under Dunn. In fact some of our players that were perceived previously as more limited seem to do better under Dunn and others who had previously thrived seem to have gone backwards. Always a sign that something is not right and perhaps that players were being individually coached rather than collectively managed.boyliegladbach wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 7:20 pmSome players react and play better under a new manager, who knows how they were told to play and what tactics they were given.behind the goals wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 7:17 pm Since the start of the season every player has being slagged off not up to league 2 on this forum, what difference will a new manager make when the players are rubbish, and what if the new man plays biggins how would that go down with the forum experts.
Clean slate for me under a new man for any that have [SwearFilter] me off this season.
Kelly has also been something of an enigma since he arrived. His CV is much better than what we've been seeing. I'm left to wonder whether that too was down to a less than productive relationship with Dunn. Or perhaps the fact that Dunn at heart was always more of a coach than a manager. So I'm quite open to the idea of letting Kelly have the reins for a few games just to see whether he can free up the players mindsets. Hes done it elsewhere. It cant do any harm.
In many ways the role for an incoming manager is more simple than it was for Dunn. There was so much expectation (rightly or wrongly) generated after last year. Evatt was a tough act to follow in that respect. The task is now much more straightforward for the next incumbent - do whats necessary, deliver enough points, keep us up.
