With finding suitable training facilities (certainly on a long term lease) difficult, why not consider seriously moving everything to the town?

If we're serious about staying in the Football League I'd like to thank that's the medium to long term goal. Some good training facilities could generate non match day income and boost football in the local area. Which seems to sadly be dying off a bit recently. A community asset.

It would obviously be a great solution, but is it worth the gamble spending a lot of money on a facility only to find players weren't willing to come. I'm sure we'd attract some players, but would quality come that could cherry pick their club?

Would good professional training facilities be more likely to attract players rather then the ephemeral ad hoc set up we now have? Giving players a sense of permanence and home?

You have a prime facility in Vickers sports club ( Hawcoat Park) just waiting for some sort of investment or partnership like that, it's a win win for everybody.

I thought Cooper had already mentioned this in a previous interview, something along the lines of “unless your willing to pay top dollar ( aka Championship level) to relocate the players and they’re families, we can’t permanently train locally”

Jackpot hit the nail on the head combine this with statements that players have signed with us saying about MCR training base. Players leaving due to too much travelling. But everyone on here knows better. If you want to train local be prepare to pay double on salary it is not worth it.

Couldn't agree more. About to make my third trip up to see the boys today in a two week period. It can be a knackering journey (particularly the night games) but I feel Barrow doing the right thing training in the Manchester/Cheshire area the world has moved on from the 1960's and 1970's when players were reasonably happy to stay in a club house in the Barrow area. People might not like that but that is the reality.
