I also see the agent in question tried to get Rooney to Oldham. So our big exciting signing is a 30 odd year old who's fallen out of favour at a non league club and who didn't want to be here last time he was? Forgive me for not being particlarly whelmed...

At face value you're right but our club say a lot of things that aren't always as they seem one example "the training facilities are sorted " then Cooper a few weeks later says the opposite by explaining that they are now at Salford not ideal but it's a slight improvement!
The appointment of Jolley if it's true about how he was appointed then people on here wouldn't be happy.
Football in the EFL is ruthless unfortunately morals loyalty go out of the window do I like this no but that's the way things are now.

I cannot disagree with this. Hornby wasn't quite correct as we did and still have Connor Brown who is also a client of Steve Whiston. It makes you wonder if we had no alternative in signing Rooney to prevent him going to one of our relegation rivals in Oldham. Wrexham and Notts County were also sniffing around but Stockport wouldn't let him go to a promotion chasing rival. Last season they allowed Ritchie Bennett to go to Hartlepool on loan and that backfired spectacularly as his goals helped Hartlepool get into the play offs.

Please, let's not rake over the embers of the last departure from the club. As I said earlier, whatever the rights and wrongs, who said what about whom, it's history, the deal to bring him back is done.

Time will tell whether it works or not - the important thing is what he does on the pitch, staring (I hope) from tomorrow evening.

The only one I noticed was Holloway who in 200 games only scored 14 goals including his spell at Brisbane Roar and East Bengal.

I bet he is on a higher wage now than he was when he left 2 years ago...what agents can do for their clients?

Chairman already said in the programme notes a while back that Rooney was offered the same wage, but still decided to leave, now he’s been told he wouldn’t be playing many games at Stockport so came back, who knows what salary he’s on.

He’s a very good player and clearly anyone who can score the goals and the assists from midfield the way he has done for Barrow and Stockport is going to improve the side and the players around him.
We all know our whole team dynamic changed when he moved on. There were obviously other things/ like the manager leaving, but we debated at the time that Dunn never replaced him. He was so important to that promotion side.
From what I’ve seen in his first interview on joining Stockport he spoke very warmly of his time here. Now he is back to do a job and we can hopefully look forward to him scoring goals and improving our link up play. We have missed that.

I didn't like the way rooney left the club albeit for money more than anything else but let bygones be bygones he's a fantastic footballer and can only be good for our team get behind them all on tuesday and saturday especially and we will start to move up this league

There was a Signal in Coopers interview last weekend that a couple of new signings would provide a breath of fresh air into the team. John Rooney re-signing for us could either be a masterstroke by the board, Oral B a big mistake.
I hope he still has the ring of confidence to create and score.
