I cannot believe after the last 4 managers the board would risk someone with absolutely no direct managerial experience. Would they?

That’s why I would prefer Wild or Williamson personally, least they’ve had some experience already
If it is Hird I wouldn’t have any complaints but you’d hope he’d be bringing someone like Rob Kelly as assistant, or trying to persuade Neil McDonald to stay. Someone experienced on the coaching side at least

I’m more concerned about contacts and ability to attract players to sign for us. I don’t want players ‘persuading’ as you end up with what happened with Cooper who clearly didn’t come here off his own back as it were and who well before the end, appeared like he really didn’t want to be at Barrow anymore.

Why not? What good have the last four been? Good at extracting severance payments from a board with no real football experience, and that's about it.

We need some fresh thinking and hopefully our new Sporting Director will help our board who have kept this club alive to make the right decision.

Now this is second hand but last night I was talking to a local Football coach who was complaining about the way the academy lads were told the Academy was being put on hold.
We then talked about the Newbys and the last time a local lad played and got a hat trick and was dropped for the next game.
He then went on to tell me about a local Football agent who offered the soccer a forward who had scored 20 goals in the EFL waiving his fees but the soccer said no thanks.
The people who have saved the club were open but time seems to be taking its tole on the community connection and it's openness.

The local player to score a hat-trick was Graham Nicholson v Stafford Rangers in a 5-1 win, next match was the Lancashire Junior Cup Final v Chorley at Wigan, Manager Micky Taylor made two changes from the Stafford game Knowles replaced Neil McDonald & Micky Worswick replaced Nicholson, in fact the Stafford game was the last time Nicholson played for the first team.

I am saying we were grateful when Casson came in and more grateful that we managed to get a Board of people who had the Football clubs interest at heart .

I am saying the way they handled the academy situation was poorly done , and we need to make sure if we are not going to do something it should be clearly explained to those involved .
I've talked to a few who are bitter and it's understandable the lads have committed time to the club and there are better ways of doing things.

We have been told over the years that a youth team is the way forward it never achieved it.

The way I'm reading this It's the BOD finally realising we can't keep employing managers who want to completely revamp the whole club, change everything then get sacked and here we are again with a new manager who wants to change things again.
With a Sporting Director in place for the long term the BOD can agree a long term strategy and put the right building blocks in place and continue that good work whoever the manager is. This also means we don't have to find an old style manager who tries to do everything, which is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Instead we can concentrate on finding a manager who can coach and drive the team in the right direction who also doesn't need to be as experienced to be successful. The added bonus to this model is that should the new manager fail and lose his job we are not having to go back to the beginning as everything else about the club is still moving along as planned and we just find a new coach.
This is a far more professional way forward.

No the Manager will state what players he needs and the Sporting Director will do all the leg work and come back with ideas.

Don't believe rumours on social media. Carlisle manager Paul Simpson predicted on Radio Cumbria last week that upwards of 1500 players will be looking for clubs this summer as clubs cut their cloth to suit their finances. so plenty of names can get banded about. Very few posted on such sites are actually true.

7 goals in 59 games over 3 years many at Tier 6. You're surely being sarcastic.
