We went for a top manager (cooper) and that ended in tears !

David Dunn was unlucky with Covid etc / lack of training facilities etc. and who Rob Kelly said wasn`t given a fair chance !

Wild well we took a chance and at first it all went smoothly.

every manager is a gamble (ask Chelsea).

the negativity is sometimes over whelming on here .

NONE of us should pre judge until at least 6 months in only time will tell !

Agreed 100% Nige. The lads been a top top player,coached for a decade at the highest level,had one managerial role were he inherited a poor squad, a very good appointment I would say. I’m really disappointed in Ian wood and the bod though, when you consider klopp is out of work!

I'll see your 4 and raise it with Ray, Foley, Campbell and Spence - plenty right there.

So basically average overall. Of the 8 mentioned only Campbell and Spence really good signings, IMO. i.e. good enough for a top EFL 2 team.

Recruitment is the key at any level and not every signing works out. Ray and particularly Foley were decent signings, if only Foley was a bit younger he’d still be with us he did well. Spence and Campbell are two very promising players but I remember people being underwhelmed with Spences signing as he was ‘only from non league’.

On the other hand count Warren, Feeley, Moyo, Bennett, Garner, Proctor and possibly one or two others who haven’t made the impact we thought they would like Telford and Worrall.

We have to get the recruitment right and it needs to be a bit better than the last two years we can’t afford to have big wage earners sat in the stand.

Good luck to Clemence he wouldn’t have been my choice but neither was Wild. And maybe he’s got a point to prove after Gillingham let him go, a bit like when Chesterfield didn’t fancy Evatt.

Just listened to the interviews and it would seem that all's well in the state of Denmark. However, I also conclude that it's Iain Wood's way or the highway at AFC the noo, and if that's how the BoDs want it - that's fine with me. Semper Sursum!

Firstly Adam, 2 great interviews with PH and the new gaffer.
Thought it was interesting when Hornby said a full back from league 1 had been lined up in January but Wild didn't want him saying we had enough already??? Surely if you're a manager serrious about trying to get promoted or secure a play off spot you would have taken any resources offered?
Hornby clearly has his hands tied around what he can say but it was obvious from the interview that this wasn't of the boards doing and their hand was forced and I think, in the circumstances, they've played that hand pretty well.
Looking forward to some new faces arriving and kicking off a new era with some potentially more attractive football.

Great interview with PH, who was full of enthusiasm and energy , despite an obvious difficulty which they did not it seems create or wish for. I think we are in good hands with this Board who deserve immense credit for all they have done and continue to do. Best wishes to SC . I hope it works and I look forward to a more progressive style of play. We’ve got some good players and I think we’ll get better . It might take time . But looking forward to it.

A good couple of interviews there and, also, a round of applause for fans panel member 'Alan' who spoke very well. Stephen Clemence said what you'd expect a new boss to say - nothing wrong in that - and I hope he gets the players he needs to play the way he wants.
Paul Hornby obviously wasn't able to say too much but scotched any suggestion that Pete Wild was sacked. It was so encouraging to hear that we are in a financially stronger position than ever and to put us as capable of matching the Northamptons and Exeters of this world made my heart flip. Feeling pretty positive at the moment.

Thing is, Desmond, Klopp has made it clear he doesn't want to find himself in a league where he'll be facing Liverpool. Perhaps the BOD did make an approach, saying there's no danger of us facing your beloved Liverpool as we are three leagues part and Klopp replied "maybe not now, but give it three years and I'd find myself with no option but to resign".

I'm sure we'd have settled for that . . . (unless of course it means Liverpool are about to suffer three consecutive relegations . . .)

Absolutely. Gills were a mess when he took over, majority of their supporters believed he would have done a job given time.
Spoke very well today outside of the interviews which will always be full if the right clichés.

Its what happens on the field that matters
Got to give him a chance as its a forum he falls into the Dunn category .

Evatt and Wild were both hungry for success as they had a point to prove .

Lets hope he achieves what he failed to at his last club.

Can't quite fathom this constant equating with Dunn. Clemence has far more senior coaching experience than Dunn, and has had far more opportunity to learn what's needed. Still no guarantee, of course, but I can't see much comparison between them.
