At five foot ten he hardly has the height to be a target man. That will be Pressley at 6 foot four surely with Tyler Smith working off him

Our so called wingers haven't done much surely the way we set up it all revolves around them and so far haven't really delivered!, we'll never score feeding off scraps Clemence needs to get them to take on defender's and get to the byeline!,we don't commit enough to put defender's under any sort of pressure!

I think Newby and Mahoney are capable of supplying the crosses, plus Jackson and possibly our new right back. Gotts too on occasions. No problem providing the supply to our strikers if everyone is up for it and gets stuck in.

During his first manifestation, I remember we had virtually no height up front. At 5'10" Tyler was never going to be the tall bloke in the box. So he learned to play off the shoulder of defenders and chase onto balls played over the defensive line. His ability to turn and speed over the first few yards ultimately created many of his goals.

Apart from looking for lay offs from our bigger forwards Tyler provides a completely different threat from balls played through midfield. He's not just "another" forward. That's what makes his acquisition so interesting.

The standard of crosses into the box is quite frankly appalling at times. Floated, outswinging balls around the penalty spot, asks quite a lot of even the best of strikers at this level to get any sort of reasonable effort on goal. Get balls whipped at pace into that 6-10 yard area. As well as giving the strikers a chance, you also have the potential of deflections from defenders. This is part of the reason why we've never got the best out of the likes of Telford IMO.

It won't be if Tyler hasn't lost his pace because he was quick whereas Telford isn't!

Checks his goal scoring record since he was last here…..

He has played in Championship and EFL 1 and, though not 'prolific' he has scored goals. May have lost his way a bit at Bradford but he could be a very good signing. I note a comment from an interview he did at Bradford where he said he benefitted from a partnership with Cooky, so perhaps his success at Barrow will depend on who (ie what type of player) partners him.

I agree; think him and Pressley/Acquah is a much better strike partnership than we had, but if he hadn’t played for us before and people looked at his goal scoring record since they’d be going mad

For me we still need a pacy left winger who will put the ball into the box rather than just giving it back to Jackson (a genuine option in place of Newby and Mahoney) and someone in midfield who will tackle/kick anything; that imho needs to be what we look for now, some pace and power. Unless the Vassell rumours are true than get us a brick shithouse at centre back as well who will just head/tackle anything
All gone quiet on those two physical/powerful (however it was worded) players we were supposed to be bringing in
