Re: THE FUTURE OF AFC and HOLKER St
Be very careful what you wish for. I attended a council meeting at Vickerstown school in the l990’s where the Soccer and Rugby tried to get a joint stadium on the old Rezza site. The Labour council knocked it back and nothing solid has ever been proposed again. York City and York Knights share a sta...

Re: Rugby move to Holker Street
Frazer was asked the question tonight and talks have been happening and are ongoing but a new stadium is not on the cards. York City are paying £150K a season and only have part match day income to finance them, they receive 17% from the match day food outlets

Re: BARROW 125 - Barrow AFC's 125th Birthday
Brilliant read. Thanks for posting. I think Billy Gordon, although not an electrician may have worked alongside them on the Vickers Engineering side in the 1980s. He came across as a genuine lovely bloke who always had a smile on his face. I knew he’d played for Barrow, I just wished I’d asked him ...

Re: Locations? Locations! Location 125
Still need someone to find the location of the Ainslie Street ground, snowdog71 seems to be the best person to find it.
I’ve looked at old maps of Barrow and my best guess would be towards the Abbey Road end as there used to be railway lines running further up

Re: Whing replacement?
We've kinda gone for young and up and coming managers/coaches, do we perhaps look to someone who isn't wet behind the ears? Someone who has had lots of league experience, promotion or promotion pushes? Read an article a few years back where Ian Holloway stated he was in for the Barrow job but it wa...

Re: Survival
Can anyone else remember seeing the plans for Holker Street drawn up in the mid to late sixties? The pitch was to be turned round 90 degrees with the popular side knocked down and rebuilt nearer the pond which would have been filled in. These plans were still in the club shop in Cavendish Street in ...

Re: Obscure preseason venues
Once played a Scottish non-league team away on a pitch no better than a local park one.
Guessing early 70's but can't remember the team.

Went past the ground about an hour ago and you’d never have thought it had rained for 15 hours yesterday.
Pitch looks perfect and testament to the new drainage system installed in the summer.

Reading PJDalys post makes us realise that well over 90% of the work we do is never seen by most supporters. If anyone wants to see what we’ve been doing for the last few years then pop down on a Sunday morning and one of us will gladly show you round. The new players family room and passageway unde...
